Question: How do I pay for the hire of the moped?
Answer: Everyone joining the Kickstart Norfolk Moped Scheme and hiring a moped or scooter, is required to set up a direct debit via GoCardless and a member of our team will talk you through the simple process. The hire fee is taken from your bank account on a date best suited to you, however, if you are paid weekly we would expect the direct debit to be taken weekly, likewise, if you are paid monthly we would expect the direct debit to be taken monthly.
Question: What happens if I fail to make payment?
Answer: As a charity, Kickstart Norfolk understands that an individual could be faced with a situation where paying their moped hire fee leaves them in financial difficulty and this could be for several reasons; loss of income, unexpected bill or the lack of budgeting. If you are faced with this situation, please call the Kickstart Norfolk office at the earliest opportunity. As a charity, we will always listen to your problems and work with you to ensure you can remain on the Moped Scheme. It may be the case that we agree to defer your payment and set up an additional payment plan to clear the small debt that may have built up. As soon as GoCardless have informed us that your direct debit has failed we will attempt to communicate with you via telephone, SMS text and email. Please do not ignore our calls, failure to speak to us could mean that your debt builds up to an unacceptable level and we will have no alternative but to take the following actions.
Question: What happens if I ignore payments and my debt builds up?
Answer: As a charity, Kickstart Norfolk relies on its service users making their hire fee payments on time. Without this payment, the charity will simply not be able to continue providing the crucial service it offers. If an individual fails to make payments, in the first instance, Kickstart Norfolk will attempt to communicate with them via telephone, SMS text, email and letter. At this stage, it is important that the individual communicates with us so that we can arrange an affordable payment plan with them to ensure the debt is cleared. Following our communication to you, you will be given 7 days to contact the Kickstart Norfolk office. If all attempts at communication fail, arrangements to collect the moped will be made. Kickstart Norfolk will work with you to ensure that where possible, you are able to remain on the moped, however, it may be in your best interest that the moped be collected to prevent any further debt to be built up, therefore, placing the individual in financial difficulty.
Question: What happens if I continue to miss payments and ignore all correspondence?
Answer: By now Kickstart Norfolk would have sent the individual several letters, and attempts to communicate with them would of been made via phone calls, SMS texts and emails. Due to the individual ignoring all correspondence, they would have also received a Final Demand letter giving them 7 days to contact the Kickstart Norfolk office. Should these attempts to communicate with the individual fail, the next step is for Kickstart Norfolk to pass their details to a regulated debt collector. If things have got to this stage, it’s important to get financial advice, remember, it’s never too late to contact us and we will always do our very best to help you.
To avoid any communication problems occurring, please call the Kickstart Norfolk office on 01362 699923 in the event that your personal details change.
